Trans Day of Visibility 2021

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility – a day to celebrate transgender and nonbinary people around the world. It is also a day to remember trans folks’ fight and empowerment.

‍There are at least 44 anti-trans bills in this country right now.Most are attacking children. Your actions can have a massive difference.Please visit pinkmantaray.com/transbills (the button below) to either call or email the governors of these states and demand that they veto the bills. Schuyler has provided full email templates, all you have to do is add your name and hit send.

EDUCATE YOURSELF

Recognize it is not on the LGBTQ+ person to educate you on everything LGBTQ+. That is your responsibility.

DON’T EXPECT YOUR TRANS FRIEND TO BE YOUR TRANS DICTIONARY. USE RESOURCES LIKE THIS INSTEAD.

EDUCATE OTHERS

There is no such thing as a passive ally.
Correct people when they misgender trans folks; engage in conversations when people exhibit bigoted behavior, and stand up for queer folks, even when they’re not around.

Call in > call out.
Value conversation over confrontation.

Small actions are still valuable.
You don’t have to speak in front of thousands or have a large social media platform to be a good ally. Smaller actions like gendering or naming someone correctly can also be powerful.
